Meet Leslie

Nurse practitioner leading Birmingham's premier in-home newborn and postpartum support service.

Leslie Brewer, CRNP, founder of On Call Peds Care
  • CRNP Pediatric nurse practitioner
  • Mom of five Personal newborn experience
  • Pediatrics Her clinical focus

The newborn season is tender, beautiful, and often more overwhelming than anyone expects. As a mom of five and a nurse practitioner who has supported families for years, I have seen how meaningful it is for parents to have steady, reassuring guidance inside their home where the questions actually happen. That understanding is what shaped my heart for this work.

While the hospital and your pediatric team provide essential medical care, many parents still feel uncertain once they are home and settling into daily life with their baby. Feeding, soothing, sleep, recovery, and newborn rhythms all unfold in real time, not during quick appointments. I wanted families to have support that bridges that space, care that feels calm, practical, and rooted in evidence, delivered exactly where they need it most.

This mission inspired @ask_the_np_mom, a space where accessible, approachable education meets relatable motherhood. From there, On Call Peds Care naturally grew as a way to bring that same clarity and grounded support directly into families' homes.

I believe parents deserve guidance that is compassionate, clear, and respectful of their values. I believe the newborn season should feel supported rather than overwhelming. And I believe families thrive when they feel understood, rested, and confident.

My role is to help create that environment.

I am not the only one doing it. Every family works with a licensed pediatric RN chosen for their situation, and you can read about the nurses on our team before you ever book a shift.

That work takes different shapes for different families. Some need a night nurse in Birmingham so they can sleep. Others need hands-on feeding support, experienced help after a NICU stay, or simply a session to talk through what is normal.

Thoughtful. Clear. Supportive.
A steady presence for families welcoming a new little life.

What Families Say

Reviews

“Having On Call Peds Care there to care for our newborn overnight gave my wife and me the rest we desperately needed. That extra sleep did not just make us feel better, it made us better parents. If you are on the fence about night nursing, I cannot recommend them highly enough. It was worth every penny.”

Steven B. Overnight client, Birmingham

“On Call Peds Care is the best decision my husband and I made postpartum. Leslie and her team provided the most personalized care for me and my baby. Knowing you have medical professionals watching after your child while you sleep brings a peace I truly cannot explain.”

Maddie Client, Birmingham

“Having a reflux baby made nights so hard and left me exhausted and unsure how to help. Bringing in a nurse was such a gift. She helped us get our girl comfortable, reset, and start learning to self-soothe. So grateful for the support of an RN and NP who helped us create a plan.”

Katie Client, Birmingham

“I had an issue on a Friday night at 9pm, and by 10pm I had completed a video consultation while sitting up in my bed, and was able to pick up a prescription by Saturday morning. She checked in on me over the next few days to make sure everything had cleared up.”

Kelli H. Telehealth client

“I had already taken three of my five kids to the pediatrician for a rash that of course spread to the other two. I dreaded going back. I remembered On Call Peds Care, and in less than an hour I had booked a call, been seen by Leslie, and my child's prescription was ready at CVS.”

Cierra B. Telehealth client

“My little one was having some work of breathing and the telemed option was so convenient. Leslie was able to see his retractions, hear him, and provide recommendations. Not having to lug your sick little one into the office along with siblings is so worth it.”

Mary Kate S. Telehealth client

“No hefty co-pay. No hours of waiting to be seen in a strange and scary looking exam room. No exposure to other sicknesses. No being treated like just another number to check off a list. Leslie even checked back in with me a few days later to ask about my son.”

Katy M. Telehealth client

“You have helped me grow my confidence as a first time mom. You have been there through the night when I have had a sick child and have walked me through many illnesses and scary moments. Could not have made it without you.”

Callie H. Telehealth client

“Love that any questions I have had, Leslie has gotten back to me much faster than my pediatrician clinic. She followed up with me when I was potty training my two year old. I felt like I had a bonus mom checking in on me. She is the best.”

Jillian M. Telehealth client

“Leslie is the most trustworthy person with babies, children and mommas. She has all the knowledge to support new moms on their breastfeeding journey, and children when they are sick. Anyone would be lucky to have her support them in motherhood.”

Lauren J. Client, Birmingham

“I cannot even begin to describe all the ways you have helped me as a mom. From breastfeeding questions, to baby led weaning advice, to helping me feel more confident when my little ones are sick. Whenever I am looking for an answer, I always come back to your page.”

Mary Kate S. Parent education client

“You have helped me as a first time mom in so many ways. It helped me learn the ropes of breastfeeding, exclusively pumping for 11 months, a possible shellfish allergy, eczema, and general pediatric and infant health information. I love what you do.”

Faith M. Parent education client

“So easy to talk to. She gives great education, listens to all of your questions and concerns, and answers them.”
