I have been the parent standing in a dark hallway at 2am with a baby who would not settle, wondering whether this was a wait-until-morning problem or a go-now problem. Five times. Being a pediatric nurse practitioner did not make those nights shorter, but it did mean I knew what I was looking at. That is the thing I wanted other families to have.
The hospital does the birth. Your pediatrician does the appointments. And then there is everything in between, which is most of it, and which happens at 3am in your own house with nobody to ask. Most overnight newborn care fills that gap with company. Someone kind, who holds the baby while you sleep. That is genuinely valuable and it is not what I built.
I built a service where the person in your home is a licensed pediatric registered nurse, working inside a clinical structure rather than alone. She can weigh a feed instead of guessing at it. She can test your baby, or your toddler, for strep or flu at nine at night rather than sending you to an urgent care waiting room. And she has a nurse practitioner behind her, which means she is not deciding by herself whether something is worth waking you for. That is also why I write as @ask_the_np_mom. The teaching and the care come from the same place: parents deserve clear answers from someone qualified to give them.
The title "night nurse" is not protected. Anyone can use it, and most people who do are not nurses. What sits behind the person in your house at 3am is the thing worth asking about.
So ask us for a license number. Ask anyone you are considering. It is public, and it takes about two minutes to check with the Alabama Board of Nursing.
