About Us

Every family deserves a supported start.

The transition home with a newborn brings joy, but it also brings new challenges. Sleep becomes disrupted, routines shift, feeding can feel confusing, and parents often carry the weight of doing it all alone.

On Call Peds Care provides professional newborn care delivered by licensed RNs paired with thoughtful, evidence-informed education, so the earliest weeks feel safer, calmer, and more sustainable.

You are not meant to figure this out without support.

What Families Say

Reviews

“Having On Call Peds Care there to care for our newborn overnight gave my wife and me the rest we desperately needed. That extra sleep did not just make us feel better, it made us better parents. If you are on the fence about night nursing, I cannot recommend them highly enough. It was worth every penny.”

Steven B. Overnight client, Birmingham

“On Call Peds Care is the best decision my husband and I made postpartum. Leslie and her team provided the most personalized care for me and my baby. Knowing you have medical professionals watching after your child while you sleep brings a peace I truly cannot explain.”

Maddie Client, Birmingham

“Having a reflux baby made nights so hard and left me exhausted and unsure how to help. Bringing in a nurse was such a gift. She helped us get our girl comfortable, reset, and start learning to self-soothe. So grateful for the support of an RN and NP who helped us create a plan.”

Katie Client, Birmingham

“I had an issue on a Friday night at 9pm, and by 10pm I had completed a video consultation while sitting up in my bed, and was able to pick up a prescription by Saturday morning. She checked in on me over the next few days to make sure everything had cleared up.”

Kelli H. Telehealth client

“I had already taken three of my five kids to the pediatrician for a rash that of course spread to the other two. I dreaded going back. I remembered On Call Peds Care, and in less than an hour I had booked a call, been seen by Leslie, and my child's prescription was ready at CVS.”

Cierra B. Telehealth client

“My little one was having some work of breathing and the telemed option was so convenient. Leslie was able to see his retractions, hear him, and provide recommendations. Not having to lug your sick little one into the office along with siblings is so worth it.”

Mary Kate S. Telehealth client

“No hefty co-pay. No hours of waiting to be seen in a strange and scary looking exam room. No exposure to other sicknesses. No being treated like just another number to check off a list. Leslie even checked back in with me a few days later to ask about my son.”

Katy M. Telehealth client

“You have helped me grow my confidence as a first time mom. You have been there through the night when I have had a sick child and have walked me through many illnesses and scary moments. Could not have made it without you.”

Callie H. Telehealth client

“Love that any questions I have had, Leslie has gotten back to me much faster than my pediatrician clinic. She followed up with me when I was potty training my two year old. I felt like I had a bonus mom checking in on me. She is the best.”

Jillian M. Telehealth client

“Leslie is the most trustworthy person with babies, children and mommas. She has all the knowledge to support new moms on their breastfeeding journey, and children when they are sick. Anyone would be lucky to have her support them in motherhood.”

Lauren J. Client, Birmingham

“I cannot even begin to describe all the ways you have helped me as a mom. From breastfeeding questions, to baby led weaning advice, to helping me feel more confident when my little ones are sick. Whenever I am looking for an answer, I always come back to your page.”

Mary Kate S. Parent education client

“You have helped me as a first time mom in so many ways. It helped me learn the ropes of breastfeeding, exclusively pumping for 11 months, a possible shellfish allergy, eczema, and general pediatric and infant health information. I love what you do.”

Faith M. Parent education client

“So easy to talk to. She gives great education, listens to all of your questions and concerns, and answers them.”

Common Questions

Questions families ask us

What does a newborn night nurse actually do?

Your nurse cares for your baby so you can sleep. That includes feeding or bringing baby to you to nurse, diapering, soothing, safe sleep setup, and monitoring. You also get coaching on feeding, wake windows, and newborn cues, so you feel more confident after every shift.

Are your nurses licensed?

Yes. Every caregiver is a licensed registered nurse with pediatric or postpartum clinical experience. On Call Peds Care was founded by a pediatric nurse practitioner, and our care approach is built on current evidence rather than personal opinion.

What areas do you serve?

We provide in-home newborn care throughout Birmingham and surrounding communities including Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Trussville, Alabaster, and Chelsea. Telehealth visits are available to families anywhere in Alabama.

How far in advance should I book?

Most families reach out during the third trimester, which gives us time to match you with the right nurse and plan your schedule. We do accept shorter notice requests when nurses are available, so contact us even if your baby has already arrived.

Do you only work overnight?

No. Overnight care is our most requested service, but we also provide daytime shifts, postpartum recovery support, feeding help, and short visits for specific concerns. We build the schedule around what your family actually needs.
